Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) is the national trade organization of Primary Textile Industry involved in to facilitate members of the association to the development of Yarn Manufacturing, Fabric Manufacturing and Dyeing- Printing-Finishing of the textile products under private sector and it was registered in 1983. The main objectives of BTMA are i. To promote and protect the trade, commerce and manufacturers of Bangladesh in general and of the textile related trade in particular. ii. To take all steps which may be necessary for promoting and supporting legislative and other measures affecting the trade commerce and manufacturing of its member industry. iii. To advance and promote commercial and technical education connected with trade and commerce of its member industry. iv. To engage in such activities relating with imports, exports of raw materials, spares and finished products for the collective benefits of the members of the association.
The association is run by a Board of Directors consisting of 27 members with one president and three vice president who are elected through ballots/votes in accordance with the provisions of the Trade Organization Ordinance 1961. It has a separate secretariat headed by a secretary General to look after all the administrative activities. Currently it has a total of 1364 members out of which, 384 from the Yarn Manufacturing Industry, 743 Fabric Manufacturing Industry and 238 Dyeing Printing and Finishing Industry with employment creation about five million people.
